Step 1: Initial Eligibility Check

Step 2: Calculate Your CRS Score

  • CRS is a points-based scoring system (max. 1,200).

  • The candidate with the highest score will get ITA (Invitation to Apply).

Step 3: Prepare Documents for Profile

Documents do not need to be uploaded immediately, but the information is needed:

  • Passport
  • Provincial Nomination (if any)
  • Job Offer (if any)
  • Proof of work experience
  • Technical expertise certificate (if any)
  • Proof of funds

Step 4: Fill in your Express Entry Profile

  • Once you meet the requirements, you will be entered into candidate pool and get CRS score.
  • Profile is valid for 60 days.

👉 While you wait, you can:

  • Improving language scores
  • Register with job banks & look for job offers
  • Apply for PNP in certain provinces
  • Add experience or certification

Step 5: Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

  • IRCC will invite candidates with the highest scores.
  • After getting ITA, you have 60 days to submit complete documents.

Comparison Between FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER, FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES & CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM: 
There are 2 types of assessment:

  1. 6 Selection Factors.
  2. CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) 

Meanwhile, the Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class only need to calculate the CRS Score.

6 Selection Factors, minimum 67 out of 100 points:

  1. English/French language proficiency, maximum 28 points.
  2. Education, maximum 25 points.
  3. Work Experience, maximum 15 points.
  4. Age, maximum 12 points.
  5. There is work in Canada, maximum 10 points
  6. Adaptability, maximum 10 points.

🗣️ Language Skills – CLB & IELTS

  • IELTS scores refer to CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark)
  • Validity of test results: 2 years
  • The higher the CLB value, the greater the chance of getting additional points in CRS.

  1. NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION (NOC)
    NOC – Job Groups
    Jobs are grouped based on the type of : Job duties & Work a person does
    • Skill Type 0 (zero): Management work
    • Skill Level A: Professional jobs – University graduates: Doctors, dentists, architects.
    • Skill Level B: Technical & skilled trades jobs- college diploma or internship training: Chefs, plumber, electrician.
    • Skill Level C: Intermediate jobs  – High school graduates and training job-specific : industrial scale butchers, container truck drivers etc.
    • Skill Level D: Labor jobs / Manual Workers – on-the-job training: fruit pickers, cleaning staff, workers in oil fields.
      Jobs are grouped by type: Job tasks & The work a person does.
  2. PNP – EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM
    There are 11 Provinces and Territories that have PNP Programs:

QUEBEC & NUNAVUT do not have a PNP program associated with Express Entry. Quebec has its own program.
