Requirements

    • Examples: Interest from deposits, rental income, etc.
  • Additional financial resources: +20% for a spouse and +5% per child and/or parent.
  • Health insurance with a minimum coverage of €60,000.
  • Minimum Stay: 183 days per year.
  • All included family members must comply with the minimum stay requirement.

Stages of the Italian Elective Residence Visa

Stages of the Italian Elective Residence Visa Below are the steps to obtain the Elective Residence Visa and Permit in Italy:

  1. Prepare all required documents, including the Long Stay Visa Form (Form D).
  2. Submit your application to the Italian Embassy in Jakarta. A consular interview is required. Processing time: 6–8 weeks.
  3. Once approved, you will receive the ELECTIVE RESIDENCE VISA. It is valid for 6 months and allows a maximum stay of 90 days within the Schengen Area.
  4. Within 8 days of arriving in Italy, you must apply for an ELECTIVE RESIDENCE PERMITat the local Police Headquarters (Questura). Processing time: 3–6 months. You will be required to return to Italy for biometrics.
  5. Receive your ELECTIVE RESIDENCE PERMIT. Which is valid for 1 year.
  • Renewal : After 1 year, renewable for 2 years.
  • Minimum Stay : 183 days / year.
  • Pathway to :
    • PERMANENT RESIDENCE / LTR (Long Term Resident): After 5 years of continuous residence in Italy.
    • CITIZENSHIP: After 10 years of continuous residence in Italy.
